Protests reveal contrasts in Kazakhstan's resource-rich economy

The protests in Kazakhstan, sparked by the government scrapping a cap on fuel prices, have revealed some of the contrasts in the country's economy. The Central Asian republic has massive natural resources and is a major exporter of oil, gas, coal and uranium. Despite this wealth, financial hardship is widespread. FRANCE 24's Business Editor Stephen Carroll looks at the economic context for the unrest, and the consequences being felt elsewhere.
