Protests in Indonesia turn violent as parliament building set alight

  • The blaze began late Friday, with television reports showing the provincial council building alight overnight.
  • At least three people were confirmed dead as a result of the fire, with their bodies retrieved by Saturday morning.
  • Five other individuals were hospitalised with injuries, including burns or broken bones sustained from jumping from the building.
  • Fadli Tahar, a local disaster official, confirmed the casualties and injuries.
