Protestors who gathered outside home of Leo Varadkar 'to target GP offices'

The group that protested outside the home of Leo Varadkar and his partner over the weekend are believed to be targeting GP offices in the near future.

Gardai were called to break up a “vile” protest on Sunday outside the Tanaiste’s house in the capital.

Higher Education Simon Harris slammed the people who made homophobic remarks while protesting outside the home.

In a video that was circulated online, a man can be heard saying: “It’s Leo Varadkar’s house, the treasonous snake. I don’t think his girlfriend is going to be too happy, oh wait, he’s the girlfriend. Sorry, I don’t think his boyfriend is going to be too happy.”

In a statement released to the Irish Mirror, the Gardai said: “Gardaí were alerted to a number of protestors outside a residence in Dublin 8 this afternoon Sunday 19th September at approximately 1p.m. Gardaí attended and the protest ended without incident.”

Other politicians from all the main political parties condemned the abuse, with the Taoiseach Micheál Martin saying it was "shocking".

But it seems that the group are not finished yet.

According to a report in today's Irish Times, members of the We the Sovereign People group have pledged to further protests outside politicians’ homes.

The paper says that it is understood they are also planning protests outside local GPs’ offices over their role in encouraging patients to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

The group has previously targeted Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly at his home.
