Protesters attempted to hurl milkshakes and fish at UKIP candidate Carl Benjamin as he visited Cornwall with supporter and far-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos.
BBC footage shows a scuffle involving Benjamin filmed after the moment witnesses claim protesters tried to target the candidate with a milkshake, but missed.
There were also claims from the scene on Lemon Quay in Truro, where Benjamin was holding a gathering, that a woman was also prevented from tossing kippers at Benjamin.
Police have said they have had no reports the milkshake was targeted at Benjamin, and no reports of anyone trying to toss fish.

However reporters in Truro claim a man tried to target Benjamin with a milkshake before being pinned to the ground following a short scuffle.
A video filmed by the BBC showed the man, whose face was covered, being grappled by a group.
It was also reported from the scene that a woman was also prevented from throwing kippers at Benjamin.
Benjamin has come under fire over comments in a social media message sent to Labour MP Jess Phillips in 2016 in which he said he "wouldn't even rape" her.
The comments resurfaced in a political debate recently when he refused to walk away from the statement he claims was a "joke" when he began running for MEP for southwest England.

The YouTuber-turned UKIP candidate, also known as Sargon of Akkad online, in recent weeks refused to back down on the comments about the MP, who has spoken out publicly about the barrage of vile online abuse including death threats she receives.
Ms Phillips said she "cried in the street" in her constituency of Birmingham after Mr Benjamin released a video saying he might rape her.
In the footage he refused to "apologise for my crimes against political correctness."
He added: "There's been an awful lot of talk about whether I would or wouldn't rape Jess Phillips.
"I've been in a lot of trouble for my hard line stance of not even raping her.

"I suppose with enough pressure I might cave, but let's be honest, nobody's got that much beer."
Benjamin has said the comment was a "joke". West Midlands Police are investigating the comments "to establish if an offence has taken place."
Devon and Cornwall Police's spokeswoman said there was nothing in its logs to suggest the milkshake was thrown at Mr Benjamin.
The police had not logged any incidents involving kippers either, she added.

However there was a routine small police presence at the rally there to preserve public order who confirmed a milkshake was thrown.
The force's statement said: "At 12.40pm today officers attended a report of an altercation at a political rally at Lemon Quay, Truro.
"A milkshake was reportedly thrown over a member of the public by a man wearing black clothing and a white mask.
"Police carried out enquiries but the 'victim' did not make themselves known to officers. No official complaint has been received.

"No-one matching the description of the suspect was located."
It comes after a clip of a protestor flinging a milkshake over far-right extremist and MEP candidate Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, went viral.
Benjamin is one of 47 MEP candidates running in South-West England.
He is on tour with fellow controversial figure Mr Yiannopulous, a British polemicist and political commentator based in the US.
UKIP party leader Gerard Batten is facing criticism from the party's supporters and politicians over its backing of Benjamin.
The leader's backing of Robinson also triggered a party firestorm.

UKIP in recent days confirmed Batten plans to end his term on June 2, triggering a fresh UKIP leadership contest. He has not yet signalled whether he plans to stand for leader again.
Robinson is not running on an independent ticket because despite acting as a close advisor to Mr Batten, he remains banned from UKIP membership.
The party has a blanket ban on allowing former British National Party and European Defence League members from joining the party.
Robinson is a former leader and spokesman of the ELD, and a former member of the BNP.
