Protesters Removed From University Of Wisconsin-Madison Campus

College students protest on University of Michigan campus

Law enforcement began moving protesters out of an encampment on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Wednesday morning. Video footage from CNN affiliate WMTV captured Dane County Sheriff’s deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol troopers equipped with riot control shields advancing into a chanting crowd.

Protesters were observed pushing back with their arms linked together as officers, some in Madison Police Department uniforms, began dismantling tents that had been set up on the ground. Additionally, some officers used batons to push protesters back.

The operation was initiated after campus police issued a warning to protesters, giving them 15 minutes to remove their tents, as reported by the student newspaper The Daily Cardinal.

As of now, it remains unclear whether any arrests were made during the operation. CNN has reached out to both the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Madison Police Department for further information.
