Protesters outside Scottish Tories' HQ say no deal Brexit could end union

Several youth activists have protested outside the Scottish Conservative headquarters over leaving the European Union without a deal.

Four volunteers from the group Our Future, Our Choice descended on the building in Edinburgh earlier today calling for a cross-party campaign for a final say on the Brexit deal.

The group held a sign which also highlighted the fact a no-deal Brexit could lead to the end of the union between Scotland and England, it read "No Deal = No UK".

They wore face masks depicting Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage, Prime Minister Boris Johnson , Michael Gove and Jacob Rees Mogg.

Our Future, Our Choice was set up following the EU referendum and calls for a People's Vote to take place because "young people overwhelmingly voted to Remain in the EU".

The new Prime Minister has vowed to take the UK out the EU without a deal as he attempts to appease members of the Conservative Party, and deliver on the referendum in 2016.

The protest comes as legal bid to prevent Boris Johnson suspending parliament to stop lawmakers blocking a no-deal  Brexit  will be heard at a Scottish court next month.

A group of about 70 lawmakers from opposition parties are backing a bid to have Scotland's highest civil court rule that Johnson cannot ask The Queen to prorogue, or suspend, parliament before Britain leaves the  European Union  on October 31.

The case had its first court outing earlier today at which the Court of Session decided that a substantive hearing would take place on September 6, said lawyer Jo Maugham from the Good Law Project which is supporting the challenge.
