Protesters gathered near Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Logan Square home Sunday morning to protest the curfew she implemented Saturday night in response to violent protests downtown.
Videos posted to social media show a group banging pots and pans and holding signs while chanting “Wake up, Lori, wake up,” at the intersection of Kimball and Wrightwood avenues, with police appearing to block the street in the 3400 block of West Wrightwood.
Chicago police did not immediately provide details about the street closure Sunday morning.

A since-deleted Facebook event for the rally, scheduled to start at 6 a.m., stated “LET’S WAKE HER UP” in a call for activists to protest the curfew order, which organizers called an attempt “to force mass arrests of protesters downtown demanding justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade and all victims of police murder.”
