Protesters block road outside Filton Airbus site

Protesters have blocked a road in north Bristol today (October 10).

A group of black-clothed demonstrators linked arms on an access road to the Airbus Filton site this morning.

Holding banners on Golf Course Lane, they told a Bristol Live photographer they were railing against Turkish involvement in Syria and the killing of Kurds.

One banner read 'Fight fascism support Rojava' while another read 'Remember Anna Keep Fighting', the latter a reference to Bristol resident Anna Campbell who died fighting in Syria .

Anna, originally from Lewes, was killed in Afrin in March last year – the first British woman to die in Syria fighting with the all-female Kurdish YPJ forces

Airbus was contacted by Bristol Live but the aerospace firm did not wish to comment.
