Protesters arrested during demonstration over Palestine Action ban

  • Hundreds of demonstrators were arrested in Parliament Square, London, for protesting the proscription of Palestine Action as a terror group.
  • The Metropolitan Police confirmed 466 arrests for showing support for Palestine Action, with an additional eight arrests for other offences, including assaults on officers.
  • Protesters silently held signs reading "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action," leading to rapid arrests under Section 13 of the Terrorism Act.
  • Many arrested individuals were released on bail with conditions not to attend further Palestine Action protests, due to limited police cell capacity.
  • The Home Secretary proscribed Palestine Action after activists sprayed military planes, and a court challenge against this ban is scheduled for November.
