Protesters accuse Boris Johnson of 'standing for terrorism' at London protest against US airstrike

More than 100 people gathered outside the US embassy in London on Sunday to protest against the killing of a high-ranking Iranian general at Baghdad airport.

General Qasem Soleiman died on Friday in a US airstrike ordered by US President Donald Trump.

After news of his death emerged, Iran's leader Ayatollah Khomeinei promised "harsh vengeance" in response to the attack, prompting speculation about what might happen next.

It also prompted Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to warn that "conflict" was in "none of our interests".

Waving Iranian and Iraqi flags, the protesters chanted today: “Donald Trump – terrorist” and labelled the US a “terror state”.

The demonstration was organised by The Union Of Islamic Student Association In Europe following Friday’s airstrike in Baghdad, which killed the head of Iran’s Quds Force.

As well as Donald Trump, the chants were aimed at Boris Johnson and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who were accused of “standing for terrorism”.

Other protests against Mr Trump's attack have been held around the world including one outside the US embassy in Berlin yesterday.
