Protester blocks main road through Manchester city centre causing 'heavy congestion'

A protester blocked a main road through Manchester city centre this afternoon.

Pictures show the campaigner sat in the middle of the road on Fountain Street, near Primark at the junction with Market Street.

He was holding a sign that read 'I'm terrified that climate breakdown will kill millions' and '30 years of climate inaction and only a few years left to act'.

Photos show police talking to him before he was moved off the road.
