Protest to be held calling for safe pedestrian crossing at Victoria Park

A campaign group calling for a safe pedestrian crossing to be installed on a Glasgow street is to hold a protest this weekend.

The protest will happen as part of Pedal on Parliament's (PoP) weekend of action urging Glasgow City Council to consider introducing a pelican or zebra crossing at Westland Drive between the entrance to Victoria Park and Victoria Park nature walk.

Other events taking place across the week are campaigning for Scotland to be a cycle-friendly country.

Pedal on Parliament traditionally hold an annual mass ride to Holyrood to protest the need for better cycling provision, but are focusing on local protests this year, aimed at improvements that could be made by local councils.

From Friday to Sunday, “Pop-up PoPs” will be happening all over Scotland, with multiple protests highlighting the barriers to safe cycling that people find in their own areas.
