An abortion rights march is to take place in Bristol city centre this weekend to show solidarity. This comes after The Supreme Court in America ended constitutional protections for abortion that have been in place for nearly 50 years.
The ruling has sent shock waves the world over. Public opinion surveys have found that the majority of Americans oppose handing the power of whether to permit abortion over to individual states.
In the UK, headliners at Glastonbury Festival used their sets to protest the ruling. Gen Z pop star Olivia Rodrigo brought out singer Lily Allen and their performance in protest against the US abortion law was praised by many.

Likewise, youngest ever Glastonbury headliner, Billie Eilish, condemned the abortion ruling during her history-making set. This comes as yesterday, a Tory MP sparked fury by stating he believes women "don't have an absolute right to bodily autonomy".
In solidarity with people affected by the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn the constitutional rights to abortion, a march has been scheduled in Bristol city centre this weekend. The march begins at 2pm on Sunday, July 3 at College Green.
A poster advertising the event states: "March for the right to choose. Abortion Rights Solidarity." It advises people to wear a mask, bring water and "don't talk to cops".
Across the US, clinics have stopped performing abortions and others began to close after the Supreme Court removed American women’s constitutional right to the procedure. Speaking from the White House after the ruling, President Biden said: "It's a sad day for the court and for the country."
