Prosecutors are seeking permission from Judge Juan Merchan to present testimony at the trial regarding a series of articles published by the National Enquirer that targeted Donald Trump's political opponents, including Ted Cruz. These articles were a result of a meeting that took place in August 2015 at Trump Tower involving David Pecker, Trump, and Michael Cohen.
The prosecutors informed the judge that many of the headlines and stories in question were shown to Trump before publication for his approval, rejection, or suggestions for changes. They argued that these articles serve as a tangible representation of the agreement made during the meeting.
Trump's attorney, Todd Blanche, raised objections, claiming that introducing this evidence could potentially confuse the jury and that the actions described were not criminal in nature.
