Prosecco terrace set to open in Liverpool landmark

A new “prosecco terrace” in one of Liverpool’s landmark buildings could open within the next few weeks.

Members of the city council’s culture and tourism select committee were told yesterday that there are plans for the new venture on part of a terrace at Croxteth Hall.

It comes as the council plan a wider push to improve and invest in the hall and use it in different ways. It was only brought fully under the local authority’s control early last year, with parts of it in very poor condition.

The council’s Angie Redhead said it was hoped the new prosecco terrace, named the Hatch at the Hall, would be able to open in time to take advantage of the end of the summer season.

It is set to be based on the Queen Anne terrace, part of which is set to be the focus of repair and restoration works in the future. Most of the terrace is currently not open to the public.

Ms Redhead said: “We are opening a little prosecco terrace on the half of the terrace that we can use.

“The Hatch at the Hall is what it will be called because we will be serving through one of the lovely sash windows.

That will be opening in a couple of weeks time to capture the end of the summer season.”

Ms Redhead said new ventures such as the Hatch would enable the hall to bring in revenue, providing funding for a much wider range of improvements.

Other changes to the hall and the wider estate include a number of repairs to the hall itself and the establishment of a permanent, monthly farmers’ market in the courtyard.

There will also be work to look at renovating and expanding the shop and cafe on the site, with work on the cafe expected to cost £80,000.
