Property firm hires associate director for land and development from rival

Rettie & Co has hired Sandy Gilmour from Graham and Sibbald as an associate director in its land and development team.

He has over 20 years’ experience in Scotland and led Graham and Sibbald’s national investment and development practice.

Matthew Benson, director of development services at Rettie & Co said: “Sandy is highly regarded across the property scene in Scotland and is a trusted adviser to a range of property companies, public sector bodies, family offices, private individuals and property funds. It’s a great hire for us and further strengthens our market-leading land and development team."

Edinburgh-based Rettie & Co was founded in 1993 and has over 150 people working across 10 offices.

Gilmour said: “I have long admired Rettie & Co, a firm with a strong and respected brand in Scotland, across the UK and internationally. The Development Services division headed by Matthew Benson is backed by an exceptional research unit led by Dr John Boyle.

“The investment market has shifted its focus to long-term sustainable sources of income and residential property and the build to rent sector have become institutional assets in their own right and will continue to increase in terms of scale and share of the residential market.

"Rettie has gained a predominant position in Build to Rent, advising BTR developers and investors and I look forward to supporting Matthew, John, Simon Rettie, Gillian McLees and the rest of the team.”
