'Proper striker' - Arsenal fans loved what Odsonne Edouard did for Celtic amid transfer links

The summer transfer window is now open, meaning that clubs will be looking to strengthen their squads over the coming weeks ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

After lifting their 14th FA Cup on Saturday, Arsenal now know that they will again be playing in Europe during the 2020/21 season.

Mikel Arteta’s attention can now turn to bringing new players to the squad as he continues to put his stamp on the club.

A number of players have already been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, including Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and Barcelona ma Philippe Coutinho.

Another name that has been linked with Arsenal is Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard. Reports suggested that the club were looking at the 22-year-old as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should the striker leave the Gunners this summer.

Edouard impressed in the Scottish Premiership last season, scoring 21 goals in 27 league appearances during the 2019/20 campaign.

And the striker got off to the perfect start in the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership season this weekend.

The 22-year-old made the headlines by scoring a hat-trick in Celtic’s 5-1 win over Hamilton Academical on the opening day.

His goals and performance in the game caught the eye of Arsenal fans.

Arsenal are among a few teams to be linked with the striker this summer, with Leicester City and Everton among the other clubs said to be watching the 22-year-old.

However, having secured the services of full-back Kieran Tierney from the Scottish Champions last summer, the Gunners relationship with the club may put them at an advantage.

Edouard has scored a total of 63 goals in 127 appearances for Celtic since his move from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2018 .
