Proof Luis Suarez desperately wanted to win Premier League with Liverpool

Luis Suarez has revealed he would have swapped his Golden Boot from the 2013/2014 season for winning the Premier League with Liverpool.

Suarez was the league’s top scorer with 31 goals when the Reds missed out on the title.

But the Barcelona forward has said he would rather have won the Premier League because of what it meant at the time.

"The Golden Boot that I won at the time in Liverpool would have changed it for the Premier for all that it meant at the time,” he told OneFootball .

"We were a very young team, we did not have the budget that Liverpool has today so I would have had a lot of merit to have won."

Suarez was part of the Barcelona side that were beaten 4-0 at Anfield in the semi-final of the Champions League last season and the Uruguayan was asked whether the Reds’ stadium or Ajax’s Amsterdam Arena was more intimidating, but he remained on the fence.

"The difference is in how far the field stand is in the Amsterdam Arena, in Anfield it is very close. As the two fans are spectacular because of the love they have given me."
