Charlton have this morning (Tuesday) announced that manager Lee Bowyer has extended his stay at the club by at least one more season.
The news comes after a dramatic U-turn by Addicks owner Roland Duchatelet as the news comes less than 24 hours after a bizarre statement from the Charlton chairman in which he claimed that Bowyer would be leaving the club due to failure to come to an agreement for a new contract.
The statement was said to have left the Charlton manager 'bewildered' as he was making preparations for the upcoming Championship season.
However, a compromised was reached between the two parties on Monday night, meaning that Bowyer will still be in the dugout at the Valley for the upcoming season.
"Charlton Athletic are delighted to confirm that Addicks’ boss Lee Bowyer has agreed a contract extension with the club," read a statement on the club's official website.
"Bowyer led Charlton to promotion last season, as his team capped a tremendous year with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sunderland in the League One play-off final at Wembley.
"After a period of negotiation Bowyer has penned a one-year contract extension as the club embarks on its first season back in the Championship."
After a dramatic 24-hours, with his foreseeable future now sorted, Bowyer can concentrate on preparations to ensure that the Addicks have a successful return to Championship football.
Unsurprisingly, Bowyer is a popular figure among Charlton fans with many confused but happy supporters taking to social media to show their delight following the morning's news.
