Promising Nottingham Forest youngster linked with move to League One side

Nottingham Forest youngster Jayden Richardson could be set for a loan move to Blackpool, according to a report.

His Reds teammate Jordan Gabriel had previously been linked with a loan switch to the League One side, but now looks to have worked his way into first-team contention at the City Ground.

Gabriel was handed his full Forest debut on Saturday, playing the 90 minutes of a 1-0 Carabao Cup defeat at Barnsley.

He was one of few positives for the visitors amid a disappointing team display, with the right-back looking bright going forward and going close to finding the back of the net in the opening few minutes.

“For his first start, it was a decent performance,” head coach Sabri Lamouchi said.

“He made just one or two mistakes in the second half, but the first half was more or less perfect.

“He could have started with a goal, immediately after the kick-off.

“It was very positive.”

Gabriel now looks set to battle with Tendayi Darikwa and Carl Jenkinson for the position vacated by Matty Cash’s departure to Aston Villa.

That is likely to put an end to any hopes Blackpool had of signing him, as the highly-rated 21-year-old is expected to continue working with Lamouchi’s squad.

And The Sun claim the Seasiders “may get Richardson instead”, with the Reds thought to be prepared to let him leave on loan to secure more game time.

The youngster impressed in a spell with Exeter City last season, when he made 28 appearances and scored two goals amid a run to the play-offs.
