
Prom Meesawat shot an even-par 72 to claim a one-stroke victory at the five-million-baht Singha Thailand Masters in Chiang Rai yesterday.
Holding a one-shot advantage heading into the final round, Prom sank five birdies and five bogeys at the par-72 Santiburi Country Club to finish on 12-under 276.
It was the second win for the Hua Hin native at the most lucrative event on the All Thailand Golf Tour. He won the inaugural edition in 1999 when he was an amateur.
Sarit Suwannarut finished second on 11-under 277 following a 72.
"I am really happy to win the title again and this gives me the confidence to challenge for more," said the 34-year-old Prom, who pocketed 750,000 baht and seven world ranking points.
"This is a big event and everyone wants to excel here. I have fond memories of this tournament and so winning here again is very special."
Prom credited PGA Tour star Kiradech Aphibarnrat for helping him improve his game.
"During the off-season, we practised together and he gave me some good advice and also some equipment before leaving for the United States," said Prom.
Prom and Kiradech represented Thailand at the World Cup of Golf in Australia last year.
Thanyakorn Khrongpha (65) finished joint third with Jang Dong-Khu of South Korea (72) on 10-under 278, while Chapchai Nirat was fifth on nine-under 279 after signing off with a 66 in the final round.
American world No.127 John Catlin (69), the highest ranked player in the field, shared sixth with Pavit Tangkamolprasert (71) on eight-under 280.
Six-time winner Prayad Marksaeng shot a 70 to share ninth with Sadom Kaewkanjana (70) and Poom Saksansin (71).
Defending champion Phachara Khongwatmai (71) was tied-12th.
