Cheonan: Thailand’s Prom Meesawat will continue to adopt a patient approach as he seeks to win again on the Asian Tour for the first time since 2014 at this week’s Korea Open.
The US$1.125 million Asian Tour event tees off today at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.
Prom, 33, has tasted success in South Korea before and has also enjoyed one top-10 finish this year in Perth.
Nicknamed the Big Dolphin, Prom is a two-time Asian Tour champion with his wins in South Korea in 2006 and in Taiwan in 2014.
The Hua Hin native finished in 17th place at the Thailand Open earlier this month.
“It’s always nice coming back to Korea. We were just here last month and we are back again. Time flies,” said Prom.
“I want to focus on getting back into the winners’ circle and I hope to play well enough to win again. After missing the cut in Singapore, I’ve been playing well.
“For me, it’s important not to put too much pressure on myself as it will affect my mental game.
“So I’m going to try to stay relaxed and focused. I’ve won in Korea before in 2006 and that can only mean I can do it again here.”
The other players include Koreans YE Yang, Bae Sang-Moon and Chang Yi-Kuen, India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar, American John Catlin, and Thai stars Jazz Janewattananond and Natipong Srithong.
