A prolific thief has been jailed and banned from entering the Didsbury area after a string of house burglaries.
Patrick Mooney, 34, of Doncaster Avenue, Withington, was convicted of two residential burglaries in the area during 2019.
At Manchester Crown Court, he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. When he is released, he will be made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order - excluding him from the entire Didsbury area.
GMP say Mooney has numerous convictions for stealing motor vehicles, and has been targeting the Didsbury area for some time.
In a post on the GMP Chorlton and Didsbury Facebook page, officers congratulated the efforts of the Neighbourhood Policing team.
They said: "The Chorlton and Didsbury Neighbourhood Policing team have successfully assisted in the prosecution of Patrick Mooney of Doncaster Ave, Withington with Mr Mooney appearing at Manchester Crown Court today in relation two Residential burglaries which occurred in the Didsbury area last year.
"He was convicted of these offences and received a total of 2.5 years imprisonment.
"Waiting for him upon release will be a Criminal Behaviour Order excluding him from the whole of the Didsbury area along with other restrictions.
"Mr Mooney has numerous convictions for Theft from Motor Vehicle and has been targeting Didsbury and the surrounding areas for many years to commit crime.
