Projects awarded a share of £1.3m

Five projects have been awarded a share of £1,302,000 from the West Lothian Place Based Investment Capital Grant 2021/22.

They complied with the criteria of: plural ownership of the economy; making financial power work for local places; fair employment and just labour markets; progressive procurement of goods and service and socially productive use of land and property.

Craigsfarm Community Development Project was awarded £129,602 to enhance existing facilities.

West Calder HUB was awarded £140,265 to be utilised for the enhancementof existing indoor and outdoor facilities potential creation of jobs for local people.

West Lothian College got £493,436 to construct an Eco-House education and training centre.

West Lothian Foodbank received £188,697 for a Market Garden project which will benefit the foodbank network across West Lothian, and allow the employment of a local young person and provide work placements for college students.

And Crofthead Community Education Association was awarded £350,000 for the creation of new community facilities and improving and growing existing property and services, as well as enhancing its cycle track facility.

Leader of West Lothian Council, Lawrence Fitzpatrick, said: "A number of excellent applications were received and regrettably not all could be selected to receive funding. Following careful consideration, five applications were selected to share the funding.

“I am confident the project outcomes will benefit local communities through increased opportunities for participation in services as well as an economical boost.”
