Projecting the global mayor

As well the bangs and flashes tomorrow night's New Year pyrotechnics will feature the biggest Boris Johnson ever. He'll be 200 feet tall and in the form of a pre-recorded video projected on to the Shell building by LG Electronics, sponsors of this year's show. This new, Bigger Boris will boom his New Year message as one of a string of international celebrities greeting the globe from the world city. It's all for free of course, but enjoy the mayor's largesse while you can. As London SE1 reports, next year we might have to pay for the privilege of witnessing The Blond's global ambitions.
