Project to Adopt Standard Specifications In Line With Saudi Arabia’s Strategic Direction

Saudi Arabia is currently working on adopting a standard specifications project that is consistent with its strategic trends. The project seeks raising efficiency, quality control, safety and energy rationalization.

The study and preparation phases are underway to adopt a set of standard specifications for products manufactured locally or imported from abroad.

Deputy Governor for Standards and Laboratories at Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Tamis al-Hammadi said the organization approved 218 new standards and 450 updated or revised standards and translated 14 specifications.

SASO constantly prepares and adopts standards for locally manufactured or imported products to meet the acceptable requirements that achieve safety and performance efficiency, Hammadi noted, adding that it also takes part in preparing Gulf, Arab and international standards.

According to Hammadi, SASO is keen to meet the urgent requirements received from the Kingdom’s different sectors.

In 2019, he stressed, SASO focused on preparing the adoption of technical regulations and standard specifications related to the Kingdom’s strategic directions, in addition to the most important point, which is consumer safety.
