Project Restart latest: Premier League managers and captains set for call with medical experts, PFA and LMA

Every Premier League manager and captain will on Wednesday attend a conference call, hosted by the league, with medical experts.

In the latest move to discuss 'Project Restart', representatives from the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) and League Managers Association (LMA) will also be present.

Standard Sport understands the issue of player welfare will be the main focus, with the call expected to begin around 10.30am BST.

The League hope that their safety protocols, which were issued on Tuesday evening in a 40-page document, will convince the players - who received a condensed eight-page version - that a return to action is safe.

Such protocols include players self-isolating for seven days should they test positive for coronavirus.

If any player tests positive, with or without symptoms, they will be forced to self-isolate for seven days, while data will be kept on record and sent to the Premier League.

Once out on the pitch, tackling and contact will reportedly be banned for the first phase of team training while all equipment, including playing surfaces, will be disinfected.

The PFA are expected to voice concerns, in particular over the safety of black players, those who have asthma and those with pregnant partners.
