Project Restart latest: Last chance for Premier League clubs to voice concerns over top-flight return

Premier League clubs have one last chance to voice their concerns today at the final shareholders meeting ahead of Project Restart.

Representatives from all 20 top-flight clubs will reconvene this morning to vote on the physical operations and matchday protocols ahead of the return of top-flight football next Wednesday.

The management of player health and safety amid the coronavirus pandemic will be one of the key points of discussion today, along with the outlined protocols for the number of people who will present at matches.

The Premier League hopes that only essential club staff will be in attendance, with a total of 300 people present.

With stadiums set to be colour-coded with red, amber and green zones, restriction of access will be paramount in order for Project Restart to be a success.

The red zone – the most heavily-restricted area – will include the pitch, tunnel, technical areas and changing rooms, and this will be limited to 105 people. This is expected to include up to 20 players per side, 12 coaching and medical staff and an additional five members of essential staff.

Other attendees, located in the amber zone, will include media representatives, doping officials and club scouts.

The meeting comes after the Premier League released its latest Covid-19 test results on Wednesday .

A statement released on Wednesday read: The Premier League can today confirm that on Monday 8 June and Tuesday 9 June, 1,213 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19. Of these, one has tested positive.

The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency. No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing.
