Project document: help us capture the unseen areas in Cardiff

How many times have we photographed the Wales Millennium Centre in the sunset, or the grand Senedd building against a blue skyline, or the streets of the city centre?

We're launching an project to celebrate the under-photographed areas of the city – to create a photographic document of the way the city is changing in all areas, not just the popular touristy bits – to capture all parts of Cardiff, including odd bits of graffiti, postboxes, small side streets, the low-rung bridges.

There's already plenty of amazing shots of the city in the Cardiff Flickr group and the Guardian Cardiff Flickr group. And there's also a discussion going about which areas we feel are under-represented in the city - join the discussion here.

I would also welcome some discussion in comments below as to where we should go and take pictures in the city. Do you know a road or cul-de-sac with its own distinctive character, or what about forgotten architecture? We are also still discussing whether this will be an afternoon event or if Flickr members will go about taking photos in their own time, as and when.

Would you be interested in taking part?
Which areas/streets/places should we photograph?

This project is yet un-named so feel free to also add your suggestions below.

There are also some great photography projects going on elsewhere in the city - Thing a Week, Photomarathon and Big Little City Cardiff all look set to deliver some amazing results. This project is a smaller scale one-off. Let us know what you think.
