Project D to open doughnut kiosk in Nottingham's Victoria Centre

Nottingham is home to Doughnotts, Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts and Bird's caramel doughnuts. Just when you thought there wasn't room for more Project D announced they're set to open a kiosk in the city.

The Derbyshire company behind the award-winning doughnuts will be setting up shop in Victoria Centre. Project D appear at pop-ups with more than 2,500 a year around the country, from local, artisan markets and farm shops to large scale festivals. But this is the time they will have a permanent outlet in Nottingham.

It is hoped the kiosk will be open by September. Handcrafted luxury doughnuts include milk chocolate, red velvet, Kinder Bueno, Speculoos and one topped with a Jammie Dodger. Project D have successfully collaborated with British Airways, BrewDog, Coca-Cola, Amazon, Love Island and Sainsbury’s since the company was started by three friends in 2018.

Operations manager Max Poynton said: “We’ve never had a permanent presence in Nottingham city centre before, but we think we’re pretty well known in the city thanks to our pop-ups, so customers hopefully know they can expect some fantastic flavours and the best-looking doughnuts this side of Derby.”

The company, which is based in Spondon, delivers to doorsteps across the UK after agreeing a deal with DPD and will soon be back at the Derbion, Derby's main shopping centre, for the first time since the pandemic began. There is also a store in Loughborough.

"We have always promised to return to the high street, but until now the time hasn’t been right because we’ve been so busy expanding the bakery, fulfilling corporate orders and establishing a wholesale route to market," said Max.
