Progressive becomes 2028 presidential frontrunner for first time on prediction market site

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez Kamala Harris

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has emerged as the frontrunner to become the 2028 Democratic presidential nominee on prediction markets Polymarket and Kalshi .
Conventional political polling still places former Vice President Kamala Harris in the top spot, followed by California Governor Gavin Newsom, with Ocasio-Cortez ranking fourth.
Ocasio-Cortez has not formally announced a presidential run, stating that her primary focus is currently on helping Democrats win the upcoming midterm elections.
A potential 2028 campaign by Ocasio-Cortez would test whether the Democratic Party shifts further left or tacks toward the center after Harris lost the 2024 election to Donald Trump.
Democrats are currently projected to retake the House of Representatives in the midterms amid public concern over high gas prices and conflict in Iran.
