'Progress' - The latest on Nottingham Forest interest in £2m Coventry City talent

Nottingham Forest were linked with a move to sign Coventry City talent Zain Westbrooke back in January.

The former Chelsea youth star was rumoured to be wanted by a host of clubs, including Fulham, Derby County and West Bromwich Albion.

But despite the transfer speculation, he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Sky Blues and Coventry CEO Dave Boddy has revealed that the club are in no rush to tie him down, but are keen to do so.

The club, top of League One, are yet to learn which division they will be playing their football in next season as the FA and EFL plot the fate of the football season.

Westbrooke, a box-to-box central midfielder, has been in fine form for City all season and will almost certainly favour the jump to the Championship next term, should his side not progress themselves.

Asked back in January if he’d had any inquiries for the former Brentford and Chelsea prospect, City boss Mark Robins said: “No, but there may be interest there because he’s a good player.

“But he’s our player and we are not looking to do anything with him in the sense of moving him on.

“I have got a good relationship with Zain and I feel like I know where we’re at. We’ll just see what happens.

“But again, he’s another one I would like to get tied down, although it’s not really tied down because he loves it here and has expressed a desire to stay.

“His performances have been really good, so I’ll be interested to try to progress that and get him under contract for a longer period and not just the extra year that we have.”
