Progres Niederkorn boss fires Rangers warning to stars as minnows near rematch

Progres Niederkorn boss Roland Vrabec has demanded his players don't start thinking about Rangers after their Europa League win at Cork City.

The Luxembourg minnows cruised to an impressive 2-0 win at Cork in the first qualifying round, first leg.

That will almost certainly be enough to set up a rematch with the Ibrox side, who infamously crashed out of Europe two years ago at the hands of the tiny club - a setback which led to manager Pedro Caixinha remonstrating with Rangers fans in the bushes outside the stadium.

They are under new management now with German boss Vrabec - a former St Pauli, Vaduz and FSV Frankfurt manager - taking charge in the summer.

And he's warned his men not to start thinking ahead of themselves.

He said: "I am happy with the result, but also slightly frustrated because we should have scored at least three goals and made sure the tie was over.

"As it stands, we still have a lot of work to do in the second leg.

"We made a fast start, played a nice aggressive game and won all our challenges.

"Of course we had a bit of luck because Cork City missed a penalty, but in the second half we had so many good chances to score.

"We need the same performance at home to complete the job. I'm not thinking about the next round and neither are the players because I won't allow them to. We are only concentrating on playing Cork."
