Programmers top the list of information technology employees companies are looking for, as they turn to IT to drive their businesses.
JobThai.com said programmers are the most wanted by companies, accounting for 1,238 positions, or 36.8%, of all IT jobs posted on its website from January to February.
Job descriptions for the position include the ability to write computer programs, develop applications and manage database systems.
In second place were IT administrators, who manage computer networks, hardware and software programs, with 464 posts - or 13.8% of vacant IT positions.
Technical support staff came third, with 451 positions, or 13.4% of the total, followed by web programmers with 243 positions, or 7.2%.
Web programmers are required to design and develop websites, as well as managing online data.
Jobs for digital marketers rounded out the top five with 208 positions, or 6.2%. They are needed to market products and services on all digital platforms.
Sangduan Tangthimsatid, chief operating officer and co-founder of JobThai.com, said IT jobs were in high demand as technology such as the Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence plays a greater role in the economy in the digital age.
The problem, she said, is that the country does not have enough skilled workers to fill the positions.
JobThai.com is a leading job website for job seekers and employers, with more than 1.4 million active resumes and 90,000 listed job openings.
