ProGen plugs in to growth fund as it eyes up job creation

A commercial electrical and mechanical contractor is powering up, creating 10 new jobs on the back of securing £150,000 of finance.

ProGen Services Ltd has plugged into the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund as it seeks to move up a level after a strong first five years.

The Stallingborough company, led by managing director Jodi Spurrell, provides fully integrated mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation turnkey operations across the UK.

Mr Spurrell said: “Our business is on an upward trajectory, but in order to reach the next phase of growth, we needed the support of a financial partner. Paul Arthur and the team at NPIF have offered invaluable support, and with this new line of funding, we are in a position where we can take Progen to the next level.”

Clients have already included ABP, Britcon, Del Monte, E.on, Grimsby Institute, Mistral Energy, Pipers Crisp Co, Pinguin Foods and Siemens Gamesa.

The investment has been made with Mercia Debt Finance as part of the fund, with an apprenticeship programme part of the expansion plan at the Kiln Lane Industrial Estate base.

Mr Arthur, investment manager at Mercia, said: “I have been impressed with the growth that ProGen has achieved since it was established just five years ago; it is testament to the hard work of Jodi and the ProGen team. I am delighted to have worked closely with Steve Parker from the Humber LEP Growth Hub to provide a firm financial foundation that will allow the company to achieve its ambitions.”
