Professor thrashed, robbed by three in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: A professor from the Satellite area of city filed a complaint with police, alleging that he was thrashed by three men in what they made to look like a road rage incident, in the Vejapur area of the city on Friday morning.

Milind Joshipura, 42, a resident of Pearl Apartments near Rajivnagar in Satellite, in his FIR stated that the incident took place at around 8.30am on Friday when he was going to his workplace, a private university in Gota.

He said that when he was on Anandnagar Road, a man of around 28 on a scooter, and two other men of about 25 on another scooter, rode parallel to him. They suddenly overtook him and stopped their vehicles in front of his car, forcing Joshipura to stop, states the FIR.

"The three men tried to snatch the keys of my car, but I told them I would park it beside the road. I parked my car and then began talking to them," said Joshipura in the FIR.

He said the three men began accusing him of hitting their vehicles. When Joshipura denied hitting any vehicle, they said they would call the police.

They pretended to call the police but said that they could not connect to the cops. Joshipura then told them he would call the cops and later called his brother-in-law.

On seeing Joshipura calling someone, the three began assaulting him and he suffered injuries to his forehead. The three accused then snatched his phone and kept hitting him, said Joshipura.

Joshipura fled and hid inside a building. His brother-in-law later came to rescue him but the accused had fled by then.

Joshipura approached Anandnagar police and filed a complaint of loot, uttering of abusive words and abetment.

Anandnagar police did not invoke charges of causing hurt against the accused persons.
