'Professional huntress' Larysa Switlyk who gloated over goat she killed in Scotland faces criminal charges

A "professional huntress" who sparked outrage after boasting of killing a goat on a Scottish island is facing criminal charges.

Police in Scotland have reported American TV presenter Larysa Switlyk to prosecutors over alleged gun offences. A 41-year-old man has also been reported.

In the autumn she tweeted a picture of herself smiling behind a wild goat which she and a companion shot during a hunt on Islay.

Ms Switlyk, who hosts the Larysa Unleashed programme on various channels, was widely criticised with more than 20,000 people commenting on the image.

The 33-year-old's tweet had described a "fun hunt" and "a perfect 200 yard shot".

Actor Robert Lindsay was among those to slam her, saying: "With t**** like you in this world no wonder a defenceless harmless goat wants to hide."

Scottish minister Mike Russell called for an end of the hunting of wild goats on the island.

He called the pictures "horrific" and told Scottish radio that goat hunting was worse than hunting red deer, which is "very firmly regulated", as goats have no natural predators.

The Scottish Government has said it will review the law around animal culling in the wake of the response to the images.

A Police Scotland statement said: "Following several complaints of wild goat 'trophy' hunting on Islay in September, Police Scotland can now confirm that a 33-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man from the USA have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for firearms offences."
