Professional golfer Adam Hadwin tackled by security trying to celebrate Nick Taylor's Canadian Open win

Adam Hadwin suffered a dislocated shoulder after being tackled by a security guard at the Canadian Open on Sunday.

The golfer will miss this week's US Open as a result after he was tackled to the ground while attempting to celebrate with winner Nick Taylor. The Canadian had just sealed his victory on home soil and was locked in a dancing embrace with his caddie after holing his final putt. To mark the occasion, Hadwin emerged from the crowd spraying a bottle of champagne over the duo.

But his celebration was cut short as a security guard rugby tackled him, mistakenly thinking Hadwin was a fan getting too close to the victorious pro. And there was no polite request to step back. The member of staff went full Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard, launching himself at Hadwin and spear tackling him to the turf, as Taylor's bagman eventually noticed amid his joy as the pair tumbled to the deck.

Taylor finished joint first with Englishman Tommy Fleetwood. But the home favourite came out on top in a playoff to claim the prize.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy finished in tie for ninth as he mixed two birdies with two bogeys during his final round to finish on 12 under par for the tournament.

Taylor said after the tournament: “I’m speechless. This is for all the guys that are here. This is for my family at home.

“This is the most incredible feeling.”
