Production to re-start at pottery-giant Portmeirion

Pottery giant Portmeirion has announced that staff will start a phased return to work this month.

The Stoke-based company closed its London Road factory in March as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

But now around 100 employees will start to slowly return to work over the next few weeks.

It comes after Portmeirion introduced a host of new measures at its factory, including social distancing ambassadors, one-way walking systems, PPE and protective screens.

Mike Raybould, CEO at Portmeirion Group said: "The health and safety of our staff is our top priority and over recent weeks, while our Stoke factory has been closed, our team of health and safety experts have worked to ensure that we can start to phase the re-opening of the factory while maintaining social distance and the safety of our employees."

He added: "We are immensely proud of all of our employees across the Group who have showed great spirit in these challenging times. "

"We look forward to welcoming our returning staff and thank all of our employees for their continued commitment to the Portmeirion Group team."

The company's retail stores will remain closed until the Government advises otherwise, however, its distribution warehouse on Trentham Lakes will continue to remain open to service orders for online and international customers.
