Production on The Batman film halted as Robert Pattinson reportedly has coronavirus

Robert Pattinson is believed to have tested positive for coronavirus, meaning production on The Batman has to be suspended.

The latest spin of the famed Caped Crusader film recently resumed production at studios outside of London, with plans to use Liverpool as the backdrop for Gotham City later this month.

The production company had already started setting up for filming around  St. George's Hall in the city centre - specifically, around the passageway which leads from William Brown Street down into the cells underneath the hall.

The film, titled The Batman, stars Pattinson as the iconic DC Comics hero and is due to be released in June 2021 by Warner Bros.

But Vanity Fair reports Robert Pattinson has tested positive for Covid-19,  and while entertainment conglomerate Warner Bros. would not comment on any individual worker's health, it said filming was temporarily paused.

The studio shared the following statement: "A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols. Filming is temporarily paused."

Vanity Fair states it "confirmed through a highly placed source that Pattinson was the individual who became sick".

Production on the highly anticipated film was previously suspended in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, with lockdown causing many television shows, films and more to shut up shop.
