The Manufacturing Production Index (MPI) for November rose by 0.98% to 116.57 points, the highest in 66 months, the Office of Industrial Economics (OIE) reported on Monday.
The OIE said the growth of MPI was driven by the local car market which showed double-digit growth over the first 11 months of the year. The market grew 20% this year.
The government's four measures to assist low-income earners through the state's welfare cards could also beef up the local consumption sector.
Over the first 11 months, the MPI grew by 2.99%.
For this year, the OIE is confident the full-year MPI will grow by 3%, compared to 2.52% in 2017.
