A destination for Thai fare and desserts, Golden Place market on Sukhothai Road has been renovated to offer a wider range of foodstuffs including agricultural produce.

Colourful vegetables and a "green" ribbon were artfully installed at the entrance for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, presided over by ACM Satitpong Sukvimol, private secretary to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

The reopening of the supermarket featured various activities such as the making of best-selling steamed sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves and healthy salad rolls and dressings.

Demonstration of toxicity testing ensures the safety of fruits and vegetables sourced by the supermarket, which is one of the 13 outlets operated by Suvarnachad.

Initiated by King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 2001, Suvarnachad supports agriculturists and communities under the late king's development projects in distributing their products at reasonable prices to consumers.

The company's committee members include Nualphan Lamsam, Sumeth Pinyosnit, Pipit Pichaisorathat, Wichai Charnsakorn and Boonchai Sangchan, who set new directions in positioning Golden Place as the first choice for buying fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other healthy foods.
