Proctor and Faamausili avoid NRL bans

Gold Coast captain Kevin Proctor has avoided a ban for a dangerous throw that saw him sin-binned in the Titans' loss to Parramatta.

An angry Proctor was sent to the sin-bin for a lifting tackle on Isaiah Papali'i at a crucial point in the Titans' loss, as they went from 6-0 down to 20 points behind while down a man.

But the NRL deemed the matter worthy of only a grade-one charge on Saturday, with fellow tackler Patrick Herbert also copping the same sanction.

Each of the pair will be able to take a fine for the incident.

Meanwhile St George Illawarra are breathing a sigh of relief with forward Poasa Faamausili not charged for a crusher tackle on Manly middle Kurt de Luis.

Had Faamausili been charged he would have faced at least a one-game suspension, adding further stress to a squad already stretched by integrity unit bans.
