Probe launched as man taken to hospital with ‘serious injury’ after Edinburgh assault

An investigation is underway after a man was found seriously injured on a street in Edinburgh.

Officers from Police Scotland and paramedics were called to London Road at around 7pm on Tuesday, July 21, after a 38-year-old man was discovered on the ground.

He was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment but was released a short time later.

Cops are now trying to determine how the man came to be injured.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7pm on Tuesday, 21 July, we received reports that a man had been assaulted on London Road, Edinburgh.

"A 38-year-old suffered serious injury and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment and released a short time later.

"Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
