Probe launched after 'sexual assault' near Glasgow hospital

A probe has been launched after a teenager was allegedly sexually assaulted near a Scots mental health hospital.

Police are investigating the report of the early hours alleged attack on the 19-year-old woman on Crookston Road, near Leverndale Hospital, in the south side of Glasgow yesterday.

Cops have confirmed they received the report and are now investigating.

A 34-year-old man was arrested and has been released pending further enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police are currently investigating a report of a 19-year-old woman being sexually assaulted in Crookston Road, Glasgow, in the early hours of Monday, 13 September, 2021.

“A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and released pending further enquiries."

A spokesman for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "We are aware of an incident but we cannot comment further at this time."

The hospital is a mental health facility that includes an intensive psychiatric care unit.
