Probe launched after Rangers fans allegedly threw bottles following 'Lizzie's in a box' chant

Police launch probe after Ranger fans allegedly threw bottles at Dundee United supporters on Saturday

Police Scotland is investigating after Rangers fans allegedly threw glass bottles at Dundee United supporters on Saturday.

Away fans at Ibrox interrupted the minute's silence in honour of The Queen. Boos and chants of "Lizzie's in a box" were heard, as the rest of Ibrox fell silent.

Shortly after, Light Blue fans showed their fury as they booed the away supporters when a rendition of the national anthem began.

Now, a force spokesperson has confirmed that an investigation has been launched after the home supporters allegedly also retaliated by throwing glass bottles at Dundee United fans.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "An investigation has been launched and further enquiries are underway."
