Probe launched after man 'armed with syringe' hijacked woman's car in Dundalk, Co Louth

A garda probe has been launched after a man believed to be "armed with a syringe" hijacked a woman's car in Co Louth.

The shocking incident occurred on Monday night at around 10:30pm in Dundalk, Co Louth.

Gardai say that the man approached a woman who was sitting in her car on Stapleton Drive and demanded that she get out of the vehicle.

The suspect than proceeded to drive off in the stolen car.

According to LMFM, the man was allegedly armed with a syringe during the hijacking.

A garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating a hijacking incident that occurred on the 16th September 2019 at approximately 10.30pm on Stapleton Drive, Dundalk Co Louth.

"A woman was sitting in her car, when a male demanded she get out and he proceeded to drive off in the car.

"The woman was not injured in the incident."

"Investigations are ongoing."
