Probe launched after death of woman on Scots train tracks

A probe has been launched after a woman died on a Scots rail line.

Emergency services raced to the scene at Delmore, near Clachnaharry, west of Inverness around 1pm yesterday amid reports of a causality on the tracks.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unclear at this time how she died.

British Transport Police are investigating the incident and the full circumstances behind her death.

In a statement, the force told the Daily Record: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Inverness at 1pm on Tuesday 4 January following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind their death."
