Probe launched after 20-year-old sexually assaulted on footpath near Scots canal

Cops have launched a probe after a woman was sexually assaulted on a footpath near a Scots canal.

The 20-year-old reported the attack at around 11.20pm last night on the footpath between Cowgate and Hillhead Road in Kirkintilloch.

A Police Scotland spokesman said enquires were ongoing into the incident.

He said: "Around 11.20pm on Friday, 30 April, 2021, police were called to a report that a 20-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted by a man on the north canal footpath between Cowgate and Hillhead Road, Kirkintilloch, around 11pm.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
