The Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) will launch a probe into 1,097 weirs under the state-funded Thai Niyom Yangyuen programme across 45 provinces as part of measures to prevent corruption.
Col Sirichan Ngathong, deputy spokeswoman of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), said Sunday the investigation would be conducted under the state's anti-corruption project.
Aside from the PACC as the main agency, the probe process would be supported by state agencies including the NCPO, the Anti-Corruption Organisation of Thailand, the Internal Security Operations Command, the Peace and Order Maintaining Command (POMC), the Ministry of Agriculture. A meeting to set guidelines would be held Monday at the PACC.
